Hello again, I have been away working the past few months, however, returned home and still am having issues with my son's '05 R2.
Owned it a couple years and ridden it last year, no problems. After being stored for 3-4 months, cleaned out the carb, fresh fuel, spark plug etc. & it seemed to be running OK, until about 15 minutes in it started to bog down like it was starving for fuel. It stalled and repeated this unless we let it sit for a few minutes then it would restart and run for 5 minutes or so, sometimes less and do it all over again.
Here's what I have done so far:
rebuild carb from top to bottom, new float, needle valve, thoroughly cleaned & blown out, new fuel line & petcokc, verified to be flowing freely, just got to replacing the piston & ring, has great compression but after each step it has continued to be a real PITA and will not run. After replacing the piston kit, it started up nicely, ran about 10 minutes or so in my shop and reached good RPM under load once it was warm. I thought I had got it sorted until we took it into our field to break it in and then it started having troubles again. I have tried adjusting the air-fuel screw from being fully seated and then backing it off about a half turn each time to no avail. I am heading out on another job soon and want to get the thing running right so we can trade it on a 65 since he's bigger & braver now than when we started this project.
Thanks
